Human Resources Highlights
The Human Resources function provides programs and practices designed to ensure a productive visitor-marketing workforce to execute DCVB’s mission. Additionally, it ensures compliance with all state/federal guidelines and regulations regarding employment policies and procedures.
DCVB's innovative United Way workplace campaign has achieved 100% staff participation for the past 4 years.

- Improved and streamlined recruiting practices to ensure team cohesion and optimize retention.
- Conducted a highly innovative and productive United Way workplace campaign.
- Completed an independent evaluation of current and potential retirement programs. Transitioned into the State’s retirement program for local governments and authorities such as DCVB.
- Updated the DCVB code of ethics and conducted training for all staff, with emphasis on proactive responsibilities for each individual related to fraud and other ethical issues.
- Completed an independent evaluation of health care providers and moved to a new carrier with equivalent or better benefits at a lower cost.
- Analyzed and monitored “effective” workforce levels to maintain productivity through vacancies or time off for sickness or vacation.
- Conducted a compliance audit of all positions according to new definitions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)—e.g., review of exempt/non-exempt classification for all Bureau positions.
