Marketing consists of 3 divisions—Marketing & Communications, Group Sales, and Visitor Services—all of which focus on implementing strategies to draw visitors to Durham, get them to see and do as much as possible during each visit, and return on future visits.

Marketing includes many elements—positioning, product, branding, packaging, pricing, distribution, personal selling, sales promotions, advertising and direct marketing, merchandising, publicity, research, and measurement.
