2008 Annual Tribute Luncheon Will Honor Bull Durham, the MoviePopular Luncheon Moves from March to April at Cameron Indoor Stadium
Each year, DCVB produces an Annual Tribute Luncheon to signify individuals or groups who have helped promote and shape Durham’s unique sense of place and cultural identity.
In 2008, the luncheon moves from March to April. The date is yet to be determined, but it will be held at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Special Event Company, an international award-winning firm based in Durham, co-produces the event with DCVB. Historic Cameron Indoor Stadium, another element of Durham’s unique sense of place is slotted as the venue for the 2008 luncheon.
Mount began his film career at Universal Pictures, where he was named president at age 26. He developed and oversaw production of such classics as Smokey and the Bandit, National Lampoon's Animal House, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. After eight years at Universal’s helm, Mount became a successful independent producer, producing Tequila Sunrise, Can’t Buy Me Love, and the legendary Bull Durham.
Two decades after Bull Durham’s release, the movie has become a classic, feted by both ESPN and USA Today as the best sports film of all time.
In a few weeks, the specific date will be announced and sponsorships, other tables, and individual seats will be available for the 2008 luncheon.
