Bull City, Beer City
With three breweries and the original World Beer Festival calling it home, Durham is where great beer happens.
To say that beer has risen to an art form from a gritty and largely blue-collar past in the US is an understatement. Like Durham, craft beers are unique, diverse, and interesting.
So then it is only fitting that Durham be something of a nexus for the development and appreciation of craft beer…and that it is. There is something of a beer vortex in Durham right now, and looking into that swirl, here are a few highlights that have arisen in the Bull City beer scene.
- Craft breweries such as Fullsteam, Triangle, and the newest of the group, Bull City Burger & Brewery, bottle the unique flavors of Durham and the South, from sweet potato lagers to Parrish St. Pale Ale.
- The World Beer Festival returns home on October 8 this year. The festival brings 150 breweries bearing samples to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Durham continues to emerge and be showcased as a craft beer hotspot worthy of great excitement, and is a great place to plan a weekend getaway to enjoy some great beer, great food and great vibes.
