Bennett Place State Historic Site

Union General William T. Sherman and Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston met at the Bennett farmstead in 1865, 17 days after Lee's Appomattox surrender, to arrange the largest troop surrender and the end of the War Between The States.

The site consists of Bennett's reconstructed farmhouse, outbuildings, interpretive center and museum. Annual events include two living history demonstrations in late April and early September.
