Magic Wings Butterfly House & Bayer CropScience Insectarium

The largest museum butterfly house east of the Mississippi. The three-story, tropical conservatory features rare and enchanting species of butterflies from Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. The conservatory includes beds of exotic flowers, a flowering meadow, tropical fruit trees in a rainforest area and a stream garden. The insectarium features interactive displays and more than 25 live species of insects and their predators. The exhibit gives you a close-up view at lives of there amazing creatures from around the globe.
Directions:
I-85 North (arriving from Atlanta, Charlotte, Greensboro, etc.):
- Take Duke St. exit, turn right.
- Follow Duke St. for less than 1 mile to second traffic light.
- Turn right onto Murray Ave.
- Museum of Life & Science is approximately 1/2 mile ahead.
- Bus parking is on the right.
I-85 South (arriving from NY, DC, VA, etc.):
- Same as directions for I-85 North.
I-40 East (arriving from Memphis, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, etc):
- I-40 East and I-85 North merge in Greensboro, NC.
- When highways divide near Hillsborough, NC, take I-85 North.
- Follow directions for I-85 North as listed above.
I-40 West (arriving from Wilmington, Fayetteville, Raleigh, etc.):
- Take Exit #279-B, the Durham Fwy. (Hwy. 147 North).
- Continue Durham Frwy for approximately 7-8 miles
- Take exit #12-C (Duke St)
- Follow Duke St. for approximately 3 miles.
- Turn right onto Murray Ave.
- Museum of Life & Science is approximately 1/2 mile ahead.
- Bus parking is on the left.
