Since its founding in Durham in 1939, The Rice Diet Program has specialized in the prevention and treatment of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, renal disease, and other weight-related illnesses. The program is a lifestyle clinic providing daily interaction with health professionals, three meals a day, seven days a week, and ongoing classes and workshops about nutrition, health, and stress management.

The residential weight-loss facility’s approach is to address an individual’s relationship with food and develop a structured lifestyle to achieve long-term results through balanced lifestyle and eating habits. The Structure House’s diabetes program is the only program of its kind in the United States, offering a multi-disciplinary approach to treating Type II diabetes.
