| April 17 - 18, 2010 145th Commemoration of the Surrender at Bennett Place This special commemorative event marks the largest surrender of the American Civil War, which helped reunify the United States. Visit the reconstructed Bennett Farm on the exact location where the generals convened to sign the terms of surrender. "Meet" Major General William Tecumseh Sherman and General Joseph Eggleston Johnston along with other Civil War soldiers during this living history weekend. Sunday there will be a wreath laying ceremony held at the Unity Monument along with special presentations and guest speakers. Additional living history programs and lectures will be held throughout the weekend. FREE, but donations gratefully accepted. April 17 - 18, 2010 10am-4pm Sa, 10am-3pm Su.
