Africa Unplugged will perform, and the evening will also feature performances by The Burton Elementary Choir, Instrument Club, and Dance Ensemble. Music begins at 6pm.
Africa Unplugged's style combines traditional Malian music with modern American music (jazz, blues, rock, rhythm and blues, soul, and hip-hop). The group will share the history of the traditional West African drum ensemble, adding electric guitars and bass. Africa Unplugged is led by djembe master and teacher Atiba Rorie of Durham.
