Movie Loft ventures down under at Shadowbox Studio on March 22 with a screening of the 1971 thriller 'Wake in Fright'. It's brews and 'roos with Donald Pleasence and Gary Bond, one of the sweatiest and most intense films from Australia, or anywhere. From a 1961 novel by Kenneth Cook, and directed by Ted Kotcheff ('Weekend at Bernie's', 'First Blood', etc.), the story follows a schoolteacher stranded in a speck of a town in the Outback where things go blisteringly wrong. A nightmare of violence and alcohol, and one of the mightiest gems of the 70s! To help wash down the dust we'll have some choice Aussie punk and rock tunes, starting at 7, along with a smattering of delectable hot dogs. Movie to begin around 8, with more records afterwards. Free, donations appreciated. BYO or sample what's on-hand!
