This panel will examine the music of the film plus other African diasporic representations. Curated by hip-hop master-mind Kendrick Lamar, the soundtrack offers up a rich collection of contemporary rap and R&B artists. This panel examining the music, choreography, and style of the film will feature BlackSpace founder Pierce Freelon, graphic designer Wutang McDougal, Aya&Teli Shabu (Magic of African Rhythm), hip-hop documentarian Chanel Nestor, and spoken word/musician Lex-Logan Ibegbu. Moderated by lecturer in Black Popular Culture and Science, Technology and Society at North Carolina State University, poet, cultural historian, and science communicator, Darrell Stover.
