Join Diana Cathcart for an exploration of the Japanese art of sashiko hand-stitching. Born out of necessity, this technique became a popular artform across Japan and has found its place in modern hand-craft around the world. Learn to create geometric patterns using white thread on an indigo-dyed cloth, basic pattern-making techniques, and become hooked on this popular historical art form. Students will create several sample pieces to take home and enjoy or to use in various crafting projects. A $30 materials fee is due to instructor.
