Some of you know that Fullsteam exists in large part because Sean's wife, Carolyn donated a kidney to Sean. Prior to her gift -- back in June of 2006 -- Sean was dealing with dialysis and facing an uncertain future. Thanks to her sacrifice and encouragement, he was able to recover and have the strength to start Fullsteam. Over a decade has passed, and Sean's been turning his attention to two matters: 1) how he can support fellow transplant recipients and 2) how he can increase awareness around the need for living donation. To that end, for the entire month of July Fullsteam will donate $1 of every shandy sold to the North Carolina Transplant Athletes, a team of organ, tissue and eye recipients -- both living donors and donor families. The money they raise will help cover the cost for team members travel to the 2018 Transplant Games of America in Salt Lake City this August -- an Olympic-style competition and celebration of the second chances provided by organ donation.
They're also hosting the Team North Carolina Send-Off Party on July 15 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm for team members to collect their tees, pins & take a group photo. They hope to raise several thousand dollars for the cause. Order a shandy (or two!) at the Fullsteam Brewery tavern in July and help them realize this goal!
