Celebrate the victories for equality that women have won and rededicate yourselves to eliminating all discrimination against women. This year’s theme is “Women’s Equality Now!” Participants will gather at 9:30am at the Durham County Health Department on 414 E Main St and march to the American Tobacco Campus on Blackwell St to enjoy a terrific rally, excellent speakers, performance artists, skits, live music bands, tabling, children’s activities and good food from local restaurants on campus.
In conjunction with this event, you're also invited to attend a press conference August 24th at 10 am at CCB Plaza Downtown Durham and Women's Empowerment meeting and training scheduled August 25th at the Mission Post at 6pm. More information will be released soon. “Women’s Equality Day” commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting American women the right to vote in 1920. This occasion has been celebrated since 1973 by Presidential Proclamation after a bill introduced by Congresswoman Bella Abzug. The victory of “Women's Equality Day” will be recognized at the march and rally on Saturday, August 26th, so join us then to mark this special occasion and take the opportunity to join forces to push forward on eliminating all discrimination against women. Sponsored by Action NC, NARAL Pro-Choice NC, NC Women United, NC ERA, NC Women Matter, NC NOW, NC Women Advance, NC Black Women's Roundtable, Durham County Women's Commission, Working America, and WomenNC.
