This event will begin with an open mic Speak Out and culminate with a March through downtown Durham. All are welcome to speak and to participate. Survivors can heal through sharing their experiences of trauma and in creating new connections and relationships.
Take Back the Night (TBTN) is a global event that promotes awareness and prevention of sexual violence. Starting in Vancouver, British Columbia, the march has been held yearly in various communities throughout the world. The event encompasses a speak out and open mic, providing a safe space for survivors of sexual violence to speak to their experiences. Participants are then invited to march together through downtown Durham, chanting and raising their voices against sexual assault and rape.
