The Durham Arts Council, in collaboration with the Nasher Teen Council, proudly presents "Through Eyes of My Own," on display in DAC’s (downstairs) Allenton Gallery. This exhibit represents the curatorial vision of the Nasher Teen Council, a program of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. The Nasher Teen Council is a diverse group of Durham high school students who meet weekly for gallery conversations, art-making, and to connect with the local arts community. For “Through Eyes of My Own,” the Nasher Teen Council issued an open call to artists ages 13-25, attracting 150 submissions. The call asked artists to present work which focuses on the exploration of identity, its development, and its importance in everyday life. From these submissions, the teens selected work by 50+ young Triangle artists (hailing from more than 30 schools and community groups). The DAC is delighted to provide a venue for these young local curators and artists to exhibit their work!
